They signed up for the "Dare to Calefare" contest and they were selected to be Calefares on the set of Calefare! Some of them appeared in last night's episode and many more of them will appear in episodes to come.
Having rubbed shoulders with Gurmit Singh, Fiona Xie and many of the other cast and experiencing how a TV production is made, our newly found calefares have this to say:-
From Lin Jia Yu: > Well, actually, a few people asked me if i went to try out just to see people like gurmit singh or fiona xie. Truthfully speaking, i did not!
I signed up to act in calefare because i'm really interested in acting and thank god i had this wonderful chance!
I will certainly continue to chase my passion for acting! (: although i am just acting as a really really minor calefare, it was fun! I got to make many new friends (those who signed up for calefare too) and also got to know the actors and actresses somehow, personally! (: gurmit singh was really a true entertainer and really perked up the spirits of everyone especially when we were getting a lil' bored waiting for our turn to be in the scene. He's just a born comedian!
This experience i say, it's just PHENOMENAL! Also,i finally got a taste of how hard it is to actually film a drama serial! It really takes alot of patience, team work and most of all, hard work! To act one scene, which is actually a few mins on television, in actual, it actually takes 30mins or so to film it down! So those watching drama serials on TV must really learn to appreciate the hard work put in to film the show! (: The working hours to film this whole show..it's actually REALLY long! The cast and crew stays till early morning most of the times! Of course, i learnt loads of things and experience alot of things, and, got 'shocked' by some stuff! However, all in all, IT WAS JUST A TRULY FUN FUN FUN EXPERIENCE! I am definately going to continue acting if i have the chance! (:
From Jeremy Leong: > I think Calefare is someone who's playing a role as an "extra" in any show. Being on the set of Calefare has been quite fun at times, especially with all the other Calefares! Although there may be quite a lot of waiting, but Gurmit really makes it a point to entertain the whole bunch of us, just talking about all kinda stuffs & some jokes, cracking us up. Plus, we get to experience what goes on behind the camera. It's been great working with a whole buncha awesome & outgoing crew as well!
From Sunny Oke: > The shooting was kind of fun and i initially thought it was a competition of something similar to see who is the best Calefare then will be able to join Mediacorp as a Calefare in future shoots or maybe be spotted as a good actor/actress in a chance for becoming a real actor/actress to my disappointment it was not as my dream was to be an actor someday. But it was a good experience and i kind of liked it.
